
Let us close the postings for January 2011 on this blog with the news of an event in Bandung so unique that it is probably only mostly known by a niche group of people only. This event will be held on 13th to 14th of February 2011 in Gedung Indonesia Menggugat, Jalan Perinti Kemerdekaan 5, Bandung. The name of the event: Bandung Open 2011.
And no, Bandung Open 2011 is not of the same nature with events such as Australia Open or the US Open—in fact, it is not in any way related to any sporting events of any kind. Bandung Open 2011 is organized by World Cube Association, and is a competition on Rubik’s Cube.
Rubik’s Cube, of course, needs no introduction since it is the most well-sold puzzle games in the whole world. Who does not know about this famous multi-colored puzzle gaming box where the objective is simply to align all the colored pieces so that all sides of the box will feature the same color. It is a simple yet devious objective that can be challenging even for those with strong logical/analytical skill.
Bandung Open 2011 is, simply put, a competition revolves around the question: “Who is the fastest in solving the Rubik’s Cube?” This competition is interesting because it implements various unique circumstances that are imposed on the participants such as solving the Rubik’s Cube blindfolded. It is an event mostly intended to Rubik’s Cube enthusiast, although general public are welcome to witness the event/participating in it if they wish.
This is an event that is very interesting to visit, just for the simple fact that its uniqueness.
