What is the first thing that comes up in your mind when you heard the term Bandung vacation or Bandung holiday? Many would most probably answer Bandung shopping or stuff like Bandung Hotels. Some would answer things like Factory Outlets. Or romantic cafes with sweeping, dazzling view of beautiful landscape.
All of them are valid, of course. But how about if we throw something else entirely different this time: “silk worm.” Yes, silk worm. No, this is not a special term for something or a code name that represents a nightclub or something like that: just an ordinary living and breathing silk worm. How come a silk worm has anything to do with Bandung vacation or holiday?
Well, as it turns out, in Bandung there is a place that you can visit to enjoy a very different kind of holiday experience that feature silk worm as its central star. It is called Padepokan Dayang Sumbi, and it is located at Desa Pamoyanan, Jl. Arcamanik Kecamatan Cimenyan Kabupaten Bandung.
Visitors to this unique attraction that was first opened to the general public on 2005 can witness with their own eyes how creatures as small as silk worms can produce something that is as magnificent as silk sheets. In here you can observe the entire life cycle of these small but magnificent creatures, from the moments of their hatchings, their larvae periods, their worm periods, their containing themselves into cocoons, and so on and so forth. To be able to see it as it happens with your own eyes is something that must be experienced yourself.
Aside from silk-worm observation activities (and silk dyeing), guests—children, particularly—can also enjoy a host of other fun activities such as rabbit or fish catching. A surprising variety of traditional food is also available for you to enjoy here, and you can even make your own silk-based handicraft if you want.
Bandung is just full with so many interesting places to visit, isn’t it?
