Nowadays, you will need to reach far end of the earth to find someone not actually familiar with the term “Valentine”. Regardless whether you approve the concept or not, it is undeniable that for innumerable people around the world—yes, even in Indonesia—would immediately equate the term Valentine with “love ” or “beautiful romance.”
But of course, there is one more thing that most people would immediately equate the term Valentine to. Something that is yummy and addicting, and loved by many all around the world. Can you guess what it is? Well actually you do not have to guess anything since the title above pretty much spoiler the whole thing: Chocolate. The following is a collection of various interesting facts about chocolate that you may have not known yet…
Oh, but first: happy Valentine!
1st fact: do you know that around the world, the amount of women who eat and addicted to chocolate doubles that of the man? Wait, although perhaps this is not really such a surprising fact after all.
2nd fact: chocolates can produce effects similar to mild anti depressant due to its ability to increase serotonin and endorphin levels in the brain. No wonder why so many people seem to find refuge in the sweetness of chocolate when under stress……it is a lot cheaper than psychiatrist too!
3rd fact: chocolate addiction can be explained by the small quantity of caffeine it contains—so eating chocolate is in some ways similar to drinking coffee!
4th fact: more than 7 billion chocolate chips are eaten per year around the world. Let’s see… that is this many zeroes: 7.000.000.000. And half of the chocolate productions in the world are consumed by… can you guess it? Americans.
5th fact: without chocolate, the world may not be blessed by the convenience of the modern electronic that is the microwave. Back then micro waves (not microwave but micro waves) were researched to create improved radar technology, and one of the results from such research was a device called the magnetron. A scientist by the name of Percy Spencer entered one of the research labs carrying a chocolate bar in his pocket and then he noticed the chocolate melt when in close proximity with the magnetron. A cartoony light bulb appeared above his head: “Wait, can’t this be used to cook food too?” His first experiment by cooking popcorn was a smashing success, although his second attempt to cook eggs resulted on said eggs blowing marvelously on his face. And thus, the world came to know microwave.
There are lots and lots of other surprising chocolate facts, but regrettably it will take too long to detail all of them here (since we love commenting on each of the fact so much). Rest assured that, like the rest of the world, we also believe chocolate is magic!
Oh, but do not believe that chocolate can be aphrodisiac though—science has yet to prove this myth… although suggestions can be a very powerful thing indeed
Tomorrow, on Saturday, February 11th 2012, KAGUM Hotels is pleased to announce that our KAGUM Social Responsibility program (dubbed KSR), will formally extend its helping hand to aid those in needs in the elementary school of Sindang Panon, located in Banjaran. KAGUM Hotels will help to rebuild and renovate the building for the school in hope to give the students a much better environment in which they can study and prosper. This special event will be attended by Mr. Martono, the Managing Director of KAGUM Hotels and all the General Managers of our hotels. Of course, Bandung media people and the local government people are also invited to join on the event.
The specific sub-section of KSR that deals with this program is KSR Education. To describe KSR further, there are three parts of KSR, with each part specializing in a particular focus of social activities. They are: KSR Education (for activities such as this), KSR Health (for health-related activities such as free medication), and KSR Environment (for activities such as street/neighborhood cleaning and green education.)
It is our effort to give back to the general public for their contributions in creating the success of our company.
